New podcast focuses on bandstand at Sewerby Hall and Gardens - plus what else you can find at Active East Riding site

Produced by education officer Robert Chester, the podcasts are two minutes long, and focus on the history of the Hall and Gardens and its collections, as portrayed by a different picture each week.

The new one is about the history of the venue’s Art Deco bandstand and Miss Monica Wilkin's orchestra, while the third, released on May 6, will be about Yarburgh Greame's garden in 1850 - it was a new garden then which had not been long laid out.

Robert Chester explained : “Although we are of course unable to open the house and the main facilities to the public at the moment, and we can’t host any events, I thought it would be a good idea to give people something interesting and informative to watch on a weekly basis.

"The podcasts will also help people keep in touch with Sewerby Hall and Gardens until we are able to reopen.”

Visitors to the Active East Riding site can take part in Sewerby Squirrels Online Challenges for Under Fives and babies, and can also try Sewerby Hall at home – fun, ideas and activities for children and families.

People of all ages are also encouraged to join the new Active East Riding Group on Facebook which is accessible through the main East Riding of Yorkshire Council Facebook page.

The group will be packed full of ideas and activities to do at home. Users are encouraged to interact with the group and post videos and pictures of themselves participating in the challenges and daily activities.
