Nostalgia: Merrimac paddle tug

The Merrimac paddle tug is pictured in Scarborough's South Bay packed with tourists heading out for an excursion.

The tug was built in North Shields in 1883 and spent some time working on the River Tyne.

Paddle steamers and tugs often came to Scarborough during the summer season.
