KITTRICK'S COMMENT: Confidence is back after Moors point

Tuesday night's result against Spennymoor was a small step in the right direction for us, but we now have to build on that.

We rolled our sleeves up, which is the minimum quality for any footballer, especially when we went down to 10 men in the second half.

The sending off of Nathan Peat was a blow because he will be missing in a week or so and we had also spoken about it with him at the break, telling him to calm down.

We are still looking to bring players in, but as I’ve said, they will have to improve what we are trying to create.

We have had an interesting week with that, following what has gone on with Harry Coates at Harrogate Railway, and then Dan Clayton.

Chris Bolder knew somebody at Harrogate Town, from where Harry is on loan at Harrogate Railway, and we asked the question.

We put the seven days in and after that I spoke to him.

He told me that Harrogate Railway play on a Monday night and that would give Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver the opportunity to watch him, as he has ambitions of getting into their first team, which is completely fair enough.

As regards Dan Clayton, we just don’t want players like that at the club.

Why come training with us if he had no intention of coming in?

People said to me that he was a decent player, so you don’t say no to somebody like that when they say they want to step up a league and play for your club.

I don’t understand why people play games like that. Why travel from Leeds to Hull for a training session for no reason?

We move on though, I don’t want to get in a fight with anyone about it. The situation is what it is.

We look forward to this weekend now, and after Tuesday we can be confident, but not arrogant.

Football is a funny game, after a good result against Spennymoor it can just come along and kick you in the backside, then you are back to square one.

It will be a tough ask because they have a couple of players that I had when I was manager of Telford in the Conference.

We are making small steps though and we are all looking forward to getting over there and giving it a go.
