Using cash from the National Lottery Heritage, it commissioned a new summer family activity Garden to Garden which was aimed at encouraging young people to become nature detectives in their local gardens and green spaces .

A panel of artists and nature experts will judge the competition which invited young people aged eight to 18 to submit original photographs, art work and recordings on the theme of bees.

The winners will receive a clip-on phone microscope perfect for taking pictures of mini beats and there will be the premier of a specially-commissioned film about the importance of bees featuring local contributors.

The closing date for the competition is midnight on Friday September 18 and the winner will be announced on September 30.

The film will also premier on September 30 and has a very strong focus on Scarborough as it features interviews with local community groups, naturalists and scientists. It will be available to view for free on South Cliffs Garden website here and through our other social media streams from that date.
