Adorable photos show dogs exploring SEALIFE Scarborough for the first time after event was ‘pawsitive’ success

Here is a selection of wonderful photos taken at SEALIFE Scarborough’s first ever Dog Friendly Evening, capturing the magical meeting between dogs and the aquarium animals.

SEALIFE Scarborough welcomed dogs through its doors for the first time as part of a special Dog Friendly Evening, giving visitors the chance to explore the aquarium alongside their four-legged companions.

The trial event was designed to offer something a little different for local dog owners while carefully considering guest experience, operational requirements and, most importantly, the welfare of the animals living at the attraction.

The first evening received a positive response, with the team now preparing for a second event on August 26 and reviewing how the concept could develop in the future.

Kieran Wade, Operations Manager, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with how the first Dog Friendly Evening went.

"It sold out incredibly quickly, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the feedback from guests showed there’s a real appetite for events like this.

"It’s safe to say the evening was a pawsitive success, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming dogs (and their humans) back on August 26 and will certainly be looking at future dates!

Athena Green, Guest Experience Team Leader, said: “As a long-term dog owner myself, I loved being able to help develop an evening where people didn’t have to leave their dogs at home to enjoy the aquarium.

" A lot of thought went into how the experience would work, from arrival and spacing through to making sure both dogs and their owners felt comfortable.

"Seeing everyone enjoying the attraction together made all that planning worthwhile.”

Todd German, Curator, said: “Animal welfare is always at the heart of what we do, so it was important that the evening was carefully planned around both the animals in our care and the dogs visiting us.

"We were really pleased with how calmly the event ran and how responsibly owners engaged with the experience. It’s a great example of how we can try something a little different while maintaining the standards we expect across the aquarium.”
