Christmas comes to Scarborough as Boyes Santa arrives in the harbour

Christmas arrived in Scarborough this weekend as Boyes Santa started his journey to the store at the harbour.

As is tradition, crowds lined the harbour to greet him with a cheery wave and accompany him on his way to his grotto at one of Scarborough’s oldest stores.

Hunmanby Brass Band were waiting with a host of festive favourites, and the shop’s windows sparkled with impressive designs, lovingly created by Julia Wray.

Santa then made his way to his grotto on the ground floor of Boyes, where well-behaved boys and girls can visit the man himself and tell him what they hope to receive on the big day itself.

The Grotto is open Thursday and Friday 1-5pm, Saturday 10-5pm and Sunday 10.30am-12.30pm and 1-3.30pm.

Santa’s Grotto tickets are £3 each, with the event being suitable for children aged 10 years and under.
