Family and Friends music collaboration will aid Samaritans

A Whitby musician has just completed a major collaboration project – a 40-track album.

Oli Knight, who performs as Owl, asked as many people as possible to send a one to two minute clip of them playing an instrument or using their voice via social media.

The music was then recorded between Saturday, April 4 to Wednesday, May 6.

The work is in memory of Oli’s friend Alex Winspear who died in 2011.

Oli said: “Alex had this idea when we were at college together, recording music with as many people as he could.

“He was an incredible musician and I always admired his lack of judgement and ability to work with anyone out of a pure love for music.

“He never got the chance to go ahead with his plan so I’m carrying on this vision.”

The album is free but any donations from the project will go to the Samaritans.
