Taking place at The Robinson Institute in Glaisdale on February 6 and 7, tickets for the popular production are all but sold out, with just a handful of seats remaining for the Saturday evening performance.
The show follows the story of the beautiful Princess Aurora (Sophie Knaggs) who is cursed to fall asleep on her 18th birthday by the evil Queen of the Fairies, Priscilla (Clare Avery).
Shocked at the spell, the other fairies keep a watchful eye on Princess Aurora as she blossoms and grows into a beautiful young woman under the watchful eye of her nursemaid, Baty, played by Glaisdale’s regular pantomime dame John Nelson, who keeps the audience laughing with his distinctive blend of jokes and humour.
Baty works hard to protect the Princess, and to find her her very own Prince Charming – Prince Leopold (Lamorna Roberts).
The show’s writer and director, Dianne Whisker said: “We’re really looking forward to it, and hope it all goes to plan (although we know that the audience is secretly hoping it doesn’t).
“The costumes this year are amazing and we think that everybody who comes will enjoy the show.
“Thank you to all of our families and friends for their support, and especially our much-valued prompt, Siobhan McMullen and her husband Kevin who keep things running smoothly behind the scenes, our pantomime band Glazed Over, especially Chris Padmore who has put in many evenings of rehearsals with the cast, and Simon Williams for doing the lighting.”
