West Cliff Primary School student, Jasper Raven, 6, had been growing his hair so he could look like his WWE idol Jeff Hardy.

However, after seeing news reports about the coronavirus, he decided he had to do something to help.

Dad Nayf, who in more normal times works at the Whitby Catch, said: “It’s hard not to have kids see everything on TV.

“Jasper wanted to give all of his birthday money to the NHS, but we suggested raising money by doing this instead.”

The decision was taken that on Thursday 23rd April Jasper will have his hair styled into a vibrant blue mohican.

Mum Alice, who formerly ran the Abbey Steps Tea Room in Whitby with her husband, said she was amazed by his decision: “He doesn’t even like having his hair cut!”

Jasper realised that to raise money you have to do something that is hard for you and asked his parents to set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the NHS.

Nayf said: “ We told him how brave he was being and he said ‘Not as brave as the people in hospital.’”

So far Jasper’s efforts have raised over £380 for the NHS and the family hope this will increase when people see his fabulous new do!
