Helen takes up role to lend helping hand
To coincide with the opening of its new community hub, scheduled for late summer, Newby and Scalby Parish Council has appointed community support coordinator Helen King.
Helen took early retirement having spent the past 18 years working as the coordinator for the Macmillan palliative care and end of life team at Scarborough Hospital. She was born in Scarborough and lives within the Newby and Scalby parish council area.
Much of Helen’s time will be spent in the community supporting residents, liaising with organisations and speaking to business owners. Helen will link people to the services they need. She will also collaborate with community, voluntary and charity groups across the wider Scarborough area to ensure any services developed and delivered complement their work.
“I decided early retirement was not for me,” said Helen. “This new post in an area where I have lived most of my life allows me to carry on working with people, organisations and businesses that I already have a strong connection with.”
If you would like to share information about your organisation or feel there is someone you know that lives in the Newby and Scalby Parish Council community and is socially isolated you can contact Helen directly by emailing [email protected] or ringing/texting her on 07849 690 327. You can also contact her on 01723 354018.
