Costumed participants took part in good natured races to win the coveted Golden Frying Pan.
Town Crier David Birdsall made the proclamation and proceedings got underway as the Pancake Bell rang.
The races took place on Aberdeen Walk with a number of weird and wonderful costumes making it a colourful spectacle.
Afterwards children flocked to Foreshore Road to participate in the Scarborough skipping traditions.
