A famous lifeboat which saved the lives of 29 people has been pictured at Scarborough Harbour.

Lifeboat 52-02 was among the vessels coming to the rescue of the MV Bonita, the Ecuadorian cargo boat caught in a hurricane in the English Channel in 1981.

The Arun class lifeboat, which served all her time at St Peter Port, Guernsey, is currently docked at Scarborough.

Owner and skipper Colin Trawles said: "Sir William Arnold was the second Arun class to be built. She was built at William Osborne's of Littlehampton in 1973 with the official number 1025 being allocated to her and named by HRH The Duchess of Kent."

After being restored close to her former appearance, the lifeboat is now on her way to Maldon, Essex, from Northumberland.

She will then be taken to St Katherine's Docks, London's only floating lifeboat museum, where she will serve as an experience centre.
