Hunmanby rocks for carers on a Thursday night

Residents of the village of Hunmanby have been treated to a rock classic each Thursday following the NHS Clap for Carers as musician Les Donkin plays a tune following the now weekly event.

Les, 49, who works at Reighton Camp as a member of the site maintenance team, said: “A few people asked if I would play a song or two on a Thursday night.

“I just put a tune on in the garden so the entire village can hear it.

“It’s nice to see everyone smiling and having a sing-along. It’s the least I can do really.”

Les, who lives on Stonegate, has been a musician for over 30 years and is vocalist in bands Les Rocks and Sonic.

He has vowed that when this is all over he will hold a concert in his front garden.

Les says he’s happy to take suggestions, although being a Manchester United fan, playing You’ll Never Walk Alone is out of the question.

Songs selected so far have included Rocking All Over the World by Status Quo, Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer and Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen.
