Hunmanby whisky maker celebrates a decade of distilling with anniversary bottling
The team at Yorkshire’s first single malt whisky distillery is celebrating a decade of distilling Yorkshire whisky with a limited edition anniversary Special Release whisky.
Filey Bay 10th Anniversary Special Release is a marriage of whisky aged in ex-Bourbon and ex-Madeira casks from Hunmanby based Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery’s earliest days and includes spirit from Cask 001, which was filled in June 2016.
Spirit of Yorkshire’s whisky director, Joe Clark, is excited about the latest bottle from the single estate distillery which grows all of its barley on the distillery farm: "This is a milestone release and a one-of-a-kind bottling for us. The vast majority of this whisky was distilled and laid down in our earliest years of production and matured in ex-Madeira casks. Integrating this spirit with whisky from our very first cask, Cask 001, makes Filey Bay 10th Anniversary Special Release absolutely unique and very different to anything we have released before.
“It is rich, fruity and spicy with flavours of fruit gums, vanilla slices, stone fruit, biscuit and honey. It has chocolate box and sweet shop on the nose, crème patisserie on the palate and stone fruit, citrus and warm spices on the finish. It’s very special!”
Limited to 2016 bottles, Filey Bay 10th Anniversary Special Release, 49.9%vol is available in the distillery shop, online at spiritofyorkshire.com and from specialist retailers nationwide.
Spirit of Yorkshire is a true field-to-bottle distillery and one of only a handful of distilleries worldwide to use 100% homegrown barley to produce its single malt whisky.
In 2025, it was named one of the top 50 spirits producers in the world by the IWSC (International Wine and Spirit Competition).
