"I'd be really up for that" - Scott Mills and Vernon Kay discuss bringing Radio 2 Roadshow to Scarborough
Radio 2 DJs Scott Mills and Vernon Kay have sparked excitement on the Yorkshire coast as they discussed the possibility of bringing the Radio 2 Roadshow to Scarborough next year.
Both DJs performed to sell-out crowds in the town this year – Vernon Kay brought his Dance Sounds of the 90s live tour to Scarborough Spa last month, while Scott Mills supported Will Smith back in August.

As Scott Mills handed over the reins to Vernon Kay following his BBC 2 show this morning – the two struck up a conversation about their love of the seaside town.
Having just played Michael Bublé (who is coming to Scarborough on July 6, 2026), Scott Mills said: “All the hits play Scarborough!”
”Scarborough’s amazing isnt’ it?”, said Vernon. “I was there recently for a Dance Sounds of the Nineties.”
”It’s a great crowd,” replied Scott, “So good!”
“It’s proper old school as well,” said Vernon, “proper Victorian buildings with the odd spot of wrought ironwork.
"That’s where we’re going to do the next Radio 2 roadshow.”
"I’d be really up for that,” said Scott.
"I think everyone would, let’s be honest.” replied Vernon.
"This isn’t an announcement, if you’ve just tuned in!” clarified Scott Mills.
Having clarified that they would put the idea in the suggestion box, and saying that the Mayor of Scarborough would be polishing his jewellery, the conversation moved on to tomorrow’s show (which will feature Peter Kay)
At the Scarborough News we have just one request, if you do decide to come back to Scarborough, please, please bring Ellie Brennan with you for a repeat performance of “Welcome to Scarbados.”
