IN PICTURES: people applaud Langdale Moors blaze 'Farmy Army' heroes in tractor run

Farmers, firefighters and contractors gathered in Whitby as people from across the area came together to say thank you to ‘the Farmy Army’ for their efforts tackling the Langdale Moor fire.

Residents and visitors united to applaud the mix of heroes who helped bring the moorland blaze, which broke out on Monday, August 11, under control.

The event was organised by Amy Cockrem, who initiated a GoFundMe appeal (www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/amy-cockrem) in the aftermath of the height of the blaze to support the farmers and firefighters.

The appeal has now topped £77,000.
