The annual festival celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, bringing together performers and music lovers for another memorable weekend. The event took place from September 4 – 6 at the Nags Head pub in Scalby.
A total of £5,460 was raised through the festival itself, with a further £2,784 coming from the Friday concerts at Temperance Hall — taking this year's fundraising total to an incredible £8,244 for Martin House.
A Scalby Folk Festival spokesperson said: “We're delighted with the results and had such a great time across three days of festival music and dancing.
"Our sincere thanks go to everyone who took part, supported the event by turning out to watch and to Pete Everitt, Dave Bell, festival founders and the team of volunteers who help run the festival. ”Especial thanks to James and Stacey landlords at the Nags Head which again so generously hosted the event.”
The festival is a wholly volunteer-run event, with all performers giving their time for free. The line-up featureed many musicians from the Scarborough area alongside performers from further afield and established names from the folk music circuit.
Since the festival began 10 years ago, it has now raised more than £30,000 for Martin House Children's Hospice — an achievement made possible through the generosity of performers, audiences, volunteers and supporters.
