IN PICTURES: Unexploded device at Barrowcliff is taken away, cordon is lifted, residents back in homes

An unexploded device found at a property in Barrowcliff has been taken away, roads reopened and residents allowed back to their homes.

During a search at a property near the junction of Barrowcliff Road and Wreyfield Drive, opposite Wreyfield Drive Methodist Church, police found the device, thought to be an old hand grenade. Army bomb disposal experts were called, and the device was removed. Neighbouring residents had been evacuated to the nearby school as a precaution.
