Kind-hearted youngster 10, cycles 50 miles to help homeless
A 10-year-old boy from Newby has completed a 50-mile cycle ride from Scarborough to Whitby and back to raise money for those less fortunate.
Casper Hunter has achieved the feat to raise money for people in Scarborough who are either homeless or are asylum seekers.

He is fundraising money for these two projects:
Big Maya’s Jerk Scarborough Christmas dinner at the Rainbow Centre

This dinner is for people who are lonely, homeless or in need of a hot meal on Christmas Day.
Casper will use the money to pay for food, ingredients and presents for the people and said: “This is a good reason for me to do this.”
There is also an Eastfield Christmas Dinner at The Lounge, St Cecilia’s, Eastfield, on Christmas Day too, with the initiative aiming to ensure that no-one in the community has to spend Christmas alone.
Scarborough Friends of Refugees
These are a group of people who help asylum seekers, who have fled their own country because of war or conflict.
Casper, who lives with mum and dad Ann-Marie and Jack and his little sister Bibi, said he will use the money to buy chocolate boxes for kids and Christmas presents for adults.
His dad Jack said: “It was pretty cold and sometimes windy, and tough going on the hill back up to Ravenscar but he kept going!
“He’s also just smashed £1,000 in donations – which is fantastic because he was hoping just to raise £200.
“There are a couple of projects we’re supporting over Christmas in our own way.
“We will help out at the Rainbow Centre and we were just talking, it would be great to get them more money to give gifts to people.
“They caught Casper’s imagination and he said ‘maybe I could cycle somewhere’.”
Casper added: “I’m doing this for refugees and homeless people in Scarborough.
“I hope that this bike ride will help change people’s lives.”
He said he was looking forward to forward to fish and chips when I got back home.
