Kirkbymoorside planning to say big thank you to volunteers and businesses at ‘farewell to covid’ event
Kirkbymoorside is planning a big “thank you” to the hundreds and volunteers and businesses who have helped the market town to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic.
The town council is calling on all organisations and residents to get involved in the event, town clerk Lisa Bolland said.
She said:”We want to hear from everyone in the community to determine the interest in staging such an event, post lock-down and when Government guidance allows.
“The council wants to thank so many people and organisations in the town for everything they have done to support and safeguard the community during the situation, and to celebrate the efforts of those who helped others through self-isolation.
“It will be an opportunity to celebrate the lifting of lockdown and give people the chance to share their experiences.
“Initially we need to determine interest in an event and then ask people to make suggestions of what it might involve.”
She said a group would be set up to plan the ‘farewell to covid’.
She said: “I hope all organisations and many individuals will be involved. It will require a big community effort so please come forward with ideas.”
