Scarborough Athletic’s chairman wants the town to “fill the motorways to Burton” after last night’s FA Cup first round proper draw pitted his side against the highest ranked team they’ll have ever faced.

The Seadogs’ 3-1 win at home to Chester in the final qualifying round of the competition put them in the hat for the draw – and club chairman Trevor Bull today gave us his verdict.

“First and foremost, to get to the FA Cup first round proper for two consecutive years for a club our level is a massive achievement,” he said.

Scarborough have negotiated their way through three qualifying rounds, against Dunston UTS, Warrington Rylands and Chester, to face the League One outfit on Saturday November 2.

They have so far earned around £18,000 in FA prize money and Mr Bull said even if they lose the first round proper tie, unlike last season, losing teams still get a further £15,000.

"We’re just hoping the town of Scarborough fills the motorways to Burton.

"We do take a few hundred to most away games so hope to do that again on the day.”
