Malton's Eden Camp brings history to life with the return of Tank Week this May half term
Eden Camp, the modern history museum in Malton, brings back its much-anticipated Tank Week this May half term, offering visitors the chance to experience the sights, sounds, and sheer power of armoured warfare.
From May 23 to 31, Eden Camp is offering visitors a front row seat to history in motion.
The former prisoner of war camp will be transformed into a hands-on showcase of some of the most iconic armoured vehicles in military history.
Visitors will have a rare opportunity to experience these machines in motion while learning about their engineering, development and role in 20th Century warfare.

At the centre of this year’s event is the Sherman M50, a striking Cold War-era development of the classic WWII Sherman tank.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see this impressive vehicle up close, discover the story behind its design, and learn how it earned its place as one of the most recognisable tanks of its era.
Across the week, expect a packed programme of live demonstrations, interactive experiences and family-friendly activities, including:
♦ Live Tank Demonstrations: see restored vehicles in action as engines fire up and the power of armoured engineering comes to life
♦ RC Tanks - have a go at driving one of our remote control tanks on a miniature assault course
♦ Learn to Load: get inside the Abbot and learn how to load the gun
♦ Interactive displays and exhibitions: get hands-on with a range of exhibits featuring models, uniforms, vehicle parts and wartime artefacts
♦ Family-friendly activities: follow the Tank Trail, track down hidden clues, and identify different shell sizes to crack the code and unlock a sweet treat from the museum shop.
Nick Hill, Museum Manager at Eden Camp, said: “Tank Week really gives a unique chance for visitors to get hands-on with remarkable pieces of military history, including the impressive Sherman M50.
"It’s an opportunity to step into the world of these powerful machines, gaining insight into what it took to operate and maintain them.
"You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for both the vehicles and the people who brought them to life.”
Tickets are available to pre-book online, and visitors are strongly encouraged to book ahead to secure entry and take advantage of discounted rates.
