Netflix cameras roll in Whitby as filming takes place for Tales of the Unexpected

Parts of Whitby were transformed into a film set as camera crews arrived in town for the filming of a new Netflix drama.

The Roald Dahl series Tales of the Unexpected has a huge cast including Nicola Coughlan, Toby Jones, Imelda Staunton and Dominic West.

Scenes here taken by Lisa Thompson show some of the filming taking place around Sandgate and the Market Place yesterday (Sep 16), featuring Derry Girls star Coughlan.

The Old Town Hall was transformed into a theatre, complete with giant paper animal puppets.

Filming was due to have been taking place in Scarborough today (Sep 17) while scenes have also been shot up the coast in Saltburn.

The six-part series is currently expected to arrive on Netflix in 2027.
