Pair take on 200km Whitby to Humber Bridge run in memory of friend
Hinderwell’s Harry Schofield and his friend Nick Shallow are taking part in a 200KM run from Whitby to the Humber Bridge, to raise money and awareness for the MND Association.
Last year, the pair ran 155 miles over three days from Seahouses to Whitby Whale Bones in an event named the Whale Bones Run.

This year, they will be running from Whitby Whale Bones out to Spurn Point, then to Hull and over the Humber Bridge, totalling 200km – 124 miles - over two days, August 14 and 15.

Harry said this year’s run is called the Humber Bridge Run and the aim is to continue to run sections of the British coastline every year to see how far they can get around, all the while fundraising for charity.
The project is called Project Coast.
So far, they have managed to raise just under £15,000 for the MND Association through various challenges since their friend John Hunter was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2023.
He died in 2024.
In his memory, an annual John Hunter Memorial Hike and John Hunter Charity Shield football match take place.
