People flock to Scarborough Spa to show off their facial hair for Yorkshire Beard Day

Beards of all shapes and sizes were celebrated at Scarborough Spa this weekend as people turned out for Yorkshire Beard Day.

The event, organised took place on Saturday March 7 and featured beards, beer, competitions, bands and stalls with all proceeds going to charity to raise awareness of prostate cancer.

Organised by members of the British Beard Club, the beard competition was judged in 15 categories including styled stubble, moustache, goatee, musketeer, sideburns/mutton chops, business beard, King Edward VII and full beard natural.

Those without beards were encouraged to wear false one and could enter the and false beard freestyle category.

The winners from each category were then judged against each other to determine the Yorkshire Beard of the Year 2020.

The event shared the venue with the Scarborough Real Ale Cider and Arts Festival, organised by Scarborough CAMRA branch from March 5 - 7.

There were 80 different real ales and 20+ ciders and perrys to choose from made by some of Yorkshire’s finest brewers and breweries and others from further afield.
