In response to what has been a quite extraordinary year, JPI Media launched the inaugural Big Thank You Awards in Yorkshire following a successful editorial campaign across a number of our newspaper titles from Scarborough to Sheffield via Leeds and Harrogate.

Since lockdown began back in March, titles across the region have heard about and written about the heroic efforts of so many key workers, neighbours, communities, families and friends who have gone above and beyond to help keep us all safe and healthy.

We wanted, as did the public, to say a big thank you to those that have done so much to help others during this pandemic and asked you to nominate people who deserved a big thankyou and why.

Harry Gration is our host this year, and we have a number of celebrities who have also agreed to say a 'Big Thank You' including Angela Griffin, Andrew Barton, Kate Hardcastle and Keeley Donovan with more to be announced.

Our headline sponsor is Sovereign Healthcare, and we also have two other sponsors, Gama Healthcare and Data Facilities.

Russ Piper, CEO of Sovereign Health Care, said: “Sovereign Health Care was established almost 150 years ago to help the people of Yorkshire access healthcare services and we have remained true to this founding principle. Now, more than ever before, the health and wellbeing of the people in our communities is at the forefront.

“Over the last eight months, we have seen healthcare and key workers become quiet heroes against the incredibly challenging backdrop of the pandemic. These awards are an important opportunity to thank these amazing people and to tell their stories at a time when we all need hope and inspiration. We are delighted to be involved.”
