Pickering Showground to host Christmas Festival after Malton event cancellation

The much-loved event, which attracts thousands of visitors each year, was unexpectedly cancelled by organisers in Malton earlier this week.

In response, Galtres Retreat has moved quickly to offer its venue and resources on Malton Road, ensuring families, traders, and visitors can still enjoy the magic of the festive season.

The Pickering Christmas Festival will take place on Saturday December 6 & Sunday December 7, featuring an array of festive market stalls, live entertainment, food and drink vendors, children's rides and a visit from Santa himself.

The event will celebrate local artisans and producers, continuing the tradition that has made the region's Christmas markets so popular.

“When we heard the news that the Malton Christmas Festival was cancelled, we knew how disappointed local families and businesses would be” said Zak Robinson, General Manager at Galtres Retreat. “We're proud to provide a new home for the traders and keep the festive spirit alive right here in Pickering”.

Traders who were previously booked to attend the Malton Event are being encouraged to contact the Galtres team for priority booking opportunities.

The Galtres Arena is a 33,500sq indoor events hall with electric, toilets, disabled and pet friendly with parking onsite for over 15,000 cars and best of all its completely weatherproof, no more worrying that another winter storm might roll in and affect visitor numbers!
