He may only be nine, but Issac Brown has already undergone two major operations to help with mobility problems caused by cerebral palsy.

The generous boy has been determined to do some charity fundraising, despite only leaving hospital from his most recent surgery a few months ago.

He decided to grow his hair and then donate it to the Little Princess Trust after seeing a television show about the charity which provides real hair wigs to children who suffer hair loss through cancer treatment or other conditions.

He grew his blond locks for two years and they were well past his shoulders when they were finally cut at Caz’s Barber Shop on Castle Road.

He also managed to collect more than £700 for the trust through sponsorship, along with £450 for Saint Catherine's, where his great grandma was cared for before she died earlier this year.

Issac has spent his own fair share of time in hospital, having been born prematurely at just 29 weeks and being diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a baby.

He has had two huge operations to improve his ability to walk - one in 2016 which saw the nerve rootlets in his spinal cord cut.

The other, in July this year, meant he was in a restrictive broomstick cast for six weeks and needed daily physio treatment.

His mum Lauren said these will not be the only operations Issac will have to go through.

She, his dad Jordan and eight-year-old sister Lilly are exceptionally proud of the brave boy.

“He has loved growing his hair and been so chilled about it,” she said.

“I think his fundraising is brilliant.”

Issac, who goes to St Martin’s Primary School in Scarborough and is a member of 2nd Scarborough (ELO) Scout Group, hopes to do another fundraiser for Saint Catherine’s when his mobility has improved.

His grandma, Gail Wilson, said: “He’s a patient, funny, happy little man - a credit to his parents.

“We’re massively proud of him and how he has taken it all in his stride.”
