Oakridge Community Primary School in Hinderwell is celebrating the success of its annual Christmas Fayre, which drew an impressive crowd.

Despite being a small village school with just 37 pupils, the event raised an “incredible” £1,580.

Headteacher Ben Russell said: “This just shows what an important part of our wonderful community we are.

"We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated PTFA who work tirelessly to create these exciting events.

"A massive thank you also to all of the local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle.”

Emma Thompson, Chairwoman of the school’s PTFA, echoed the sentiment: “We’re so grateful to everyone who donated or gave their time.

"It was all worth it to see the smiles on children’s faces.”

The funds raised will go towards enriching the school’s resources and experiences for pupils such as the school’s recent trip to watch Jack and the Beanstalk at the Whitby Pavilion Theatre.

The school thanks the community for their continued support.
