Residents at Scarborough Hall care home in Scarborough  enjoyed pet therapy visit with they welcomed pets into the home owned by staff members.

The activities team at Scarborough Hall supported residents at the home with holding and petting with Darla and Reggie, two rabbits, and Bongo the dog. Pet therapy is a technique that uses animals to interact with seniors for numerous reasons to help improve the quality of their life and provide amazing health benefits.

Charlotte Nurse, general manager at Scarborough Hall Care Home said: “In these unprecedented times, providing a range of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities for our residents is more important than ever.

"Our residents really enjoyed the animals visiting the home. Our varied life enrichment programme for residents includes ways to stay in contact with relatives digitally, such as Skype, and we have new ways to keep residents active, whilst ensuring that the group activities are smaller, adhering to social distancing advice”

Resident, Sheila Deere was able to enjoy the visit from the new furry friends and said “I used to breed rabbits for shows with my husband. It was really enjoyable to hold them again.

"We love all animals.”
