The trail, designed to celebrate 400 years of England’s original seaside resort, begins at Scarborough Railway Station before winding through the town, guiding explorers along North and South Bay to key landmarks – each one marked by a spectacular oversized deckchair.
This walkable adventure follows a natural route from the town centre to both bays and up along the scenic coastline. Start anywhere you like or follow the numbered trail for the full storytelling experience.
The giant chairs are dotted across the seafront, parks, heritage spots and attractions, with each design shining a spotlight on a different moment from Scarborough’s remarkable past.
From the discovery of the spa waters in 1626 to the arrival of the railway in 1845, each chair brings a chapter of the town’s history to life.
