Scarborough gyms and indoor swimming pools reopen as lockdown restrictions are eased

Indoor leisure facilities such as gyms and swimming pools have reopened in Scarborough as lockdown restrictions were eased from Monday.

Gym goers are once again able to get back into their fitness routine, as gyms and indoor swimming pools reopen.

Scarborough Sports village, which is managed by sports and leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Scarborough Borough Council, are encouraging customers to download their app to enable them to book in easily. They also area asking members to scan the NHS QR code posters to provide track and trace information.

Jon Bird, Everyone Active’s general manager, said: “After being closed for three months, the latest step in the Government’s roadmap is a positive move forward for the leisure industry and gives people of all ages the opportunity to resume activity and exercise in their leisure centre.

“Ensuring our colleagues and customers remain safe continues to be our number one priority and we have carefully considered the strict measures to ensure we adhere to the guidance.”

Social distancing measures are still in place, and customers are being asked to not arrive too early for their session in order to avoid groups of people congregating. One way systems are in operation where possible, and hand sanitizers have been provided throughout the building.

Form 360, a functional fitness gym located on Clifton Street in the town, said in a facebook post "Absolutely over the moon to be back, falling in love with coaching once again and working towards some amazing goals."
