In a summer that has seen 175,000 tickets sold for the biggest ever season of 28 shows at the iconic venue, Nile Rodgers & CHIC were officially the 200th live music artist to headline since it was reopened to the public in 2010.
Kicking off their 90-minute set with party-starter Le Freak, the US soul and disco icons segued perfectly into Everybody Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and I Want Your Love.
With a back catalogue to make any record producer envious, Nile Rodgers is one of the most influential figures in pop history, and as co-founder of CHIC, he changed the sound of music forever.
And for a Saturday night in Scarborough, the hits flowed with crowd pleasers including I’m Coming Out, Upside Down, We Are Family, Like A Virgin, Lost in Music, Notorious, Get Lucky and Let’s Dance, before the show finale of Good Times.
Acid jazz outfit The Brand New Heavies took to the stage earlier in the evening belting out favourites including Dream on Dreamer, Midnight at the Oasis and Spend Some Time, while, rising soul singer James Emmanuel opened the show.
