Scarborough Parish Church opening for residents to pay their respects to Prince Philip

St Mary's Church will be open from 10am until noon on Wednesday and Saturday this week.

People will be able to light a candle and take time to reflect on the Duke of Edinburgh s life.

Vicar of St Mary's, Rev Richard Walker, said: "After the sad passing of HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, St Mary's Church will be open to offer some space for reflection and prayer, and the opportunity to light a votive candle in memory of a man who was clearly so significant to the life of our nation."
