"Considering the inclement weather", crew members and lifeboat supporters said they are "delighted" to have raised at least £975, with the proceeds still being counted.

The Valentine-themed event took place on Saturday and included tours of the lifeboat station and on board the Shannon in exchange for a small donation.

“We had people come from afar just to see our station which shows the hard work behind the scenes really paid off," said one of the organisers, Tabz Nixon.

Visitors were shown around the station including both lifeboats and children posed for photos with RNLI mascot Stormy Stan.
