Visual artists who live in the borough are being invited to create a series of new artworks for around the town.

The new project Scenes from Scarborough is a joint initiative from Scarborough Borough Council and Scarborough Town Centre Team and the artworks will be used on new signposting around the town, and to create vinyl wraps or photo boards to enhance the appearance of empty shops in the town centre.

Scarborough Town Centre Team member Rach Drew says: “We’re looking for some really creative, engaging visuals that will brighten up our town.

“Colours should reflect Scarborough and its seaside location, and we’re seeking clean, strong images that will lend themselves to different uses.

“There are so many talented artists living within the boundaries of the borough – we can’t wait to see what they come up with!”

Artists are invited to submit up to three ideas, each commissioned piece will receive £1,000 for time and materials. Twelve commissions are available.
