The Canadian singer delivered a 90-minute set on Monday July 6, opening with an iconic cover of Nina Simone’s Feeling Good.
He followed with Haven’t Met You Yet, L-O-V-E and Such A Night.
Michael told the capacity crowd: “Scarborough we are not here for a show – we are here for a celebration!”
He then asked the audience: “I just want to know… is it coming home?”
The reference to England’s World Cup adventure – which continues after a thrilling 3-2 win over Mexico saw them into Saturday’s quarter-final against Erling Haaland’s Norway – was followed by an 8,000-strong sing-a-long to the Oasis classic Wonderwall, which has been adopted by Three Lions fans around the world.
Michael’s set included such classic covers Cry Me a River and Fly Me To The Moon before he ended the set with Elvis Presely’s Always on My Mind
Pop duo Appleton, sisters Nicole and Natalie Appleton, treated the crowds to a nostalgic performance of All Saints’ songs including Pure Shores, Never Ever and Black Coffee.
