Scarborough women strip off for charity in Real Monty spectacular

A group of women from Scarborough and the surrounding area are preparing to bare all for charity in a spectacular fundraising show inspired by the hit film The Full Monty.

The Ladies in Pink will take to the stage at Parkdean Resorts Cayton Bay on Friday, November 27, for The Ladies Real Monty — an evening of entertainment, courage and laughter with a serious message at its heart.

The women, aged between 21 and 78 and from all walks of life, have come together with one shared aim: to raise vital funds for cancer charities and support people affected by the disease.

And their efforts have already made a significant difference, with Ladies in Pink raising more than £33,000 for cancer-related causes through a variety of events.

The group primarily supports Breast Cancer Now, alongside Yorkshire Cancer Research and Scarborough-based Saint Catherine’s Hospice.

It has also supported York and Scarborough Hospitals’ Autumn Project, helping raise money for end-of-life cuddle beds, which can provide precious comfort for patients and their families during an incredibly difficult time.

More recently, the group donated £1,500 to the Magnolia Breast Clinic in York to help provide women with their first bras following breast cancer surgery.

For the Ladies in Pink, the fundraising is about much more than money. It is about helping women feel supported, cared for and empowered after what can be a devastating experience.

The Ladies Real Monty promises a spectacular evening packed with entertainment from a range of acts before building towards the eagerly anticipated finale, when the women will take to the stage and remove their bras for the cause.

Spokesperson Debbie Ratcliffe said: “Behind the glitz, glamour and laughter is a very serious message: breast cancer can affect any woman, at any age, and early awareness and support can save lives.

“Cancer has touched our own lives as well as many others, it has affected mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loved ones.

“The performance is our way of turning something difficult and frightening into something positive, powerful and memorable.”

Tickets for The Ladies Real Monty cost £15 each, including entry into a raffle, and are available from www.ladiesinpink.co.uk or email [email protected].

The Ladies in Pink will round off 2026 with its annual Christmas Ball at the Crown Spa Hotel on Saturday, December 5.

The black-tie evening will feature live entertainment, a three-course Christmas dinner and festive celebrations, with proceeds supporting the group's chosen charities.
