Scarborough’s Rainbow Centre launches 100 Club to ensure financial stability
Scarborough’s Rainbow Centre has launched a new initiative aimed at securing the long-term financial sustainability of its services.
For 28 years, The Rainbow Centre has been supporting vulnerable people in and around Scarborough, helping the homeless as well as those in crisis.

The centre offers a variety of essential services including: a foodbank, café, debt advice service., hot showers, laundry facilities, access to clothing, toiletries, bedding, and start-up packs for new homes.
To fund its work, the centre is dependent on regular donations from the local community, supplemented by grants from funders and grant giving trusts.
However, these monthly donations have been substantially reduced due to the cost of living crisis, and grant funding is becoming harder to secure.
The centre is now searching for 100 businesses to become members of its exclusive ‘Rainbow 100 Club’.
It is hoped that by signing up to the programme, which encourages monthly donations of between £50-500 p/m, the centre will achieve long term financial stability, providing the opportunity to apply for match funded grants to assist with the running costs of the centre.
Scarborough business, Mainprize Offshore Ltd has now become the first to commit to the project.
Fundraising officer James Howard said: “From our very first discussions about launching the Club, our great friends at Mainprize Offshore Ltd kindly agreed to become the first business to sign up.
“Their continued support means a great deal to everyone at The Rainbow Centre, and their generous monthly contribution will go a long way in helping us continue our vital work within the community.
Justin Coates from Mainprize Offshore Ltd said: "The Rainbow Centre does remarkable work for vulnerable members of the community, including children and families.
“Becoming part of the One Hundred Club is our way of standing behind a charity that brings colour, confidence and opportunity into people’s lives.
“We are proud and happy to be a supporter of The Rainbow Centre."
Members of the Rainbow 100 Club, will receive a Rainbow 100 Club plaque to display at their premises to announce their membership of the initiative to customers and clients; corporate volunteering opportunities for staff; a regular newsletter detailing how donations have been spent with statistics and testimonials from clients; an invitation to the annual 100 Club gathering, and regular positive social media and press output promoting the Rainbow 100 Club members.
Mr Howard said: "It is amazing just how many businesses and people want to help us at The Rainbow Centre.
“This is a great opportunity, offering the centre long-term financial stability to allow us to apply for match funded grants.
“We have a great relationship with Mainprize Offshore Ltd who continue to go above and beyond in helping The Rainbow Centre.”
