In a bid to champion the Yorkshire Curd Tart, Nick Botham shared the family recipe, which has been passed down through the generations, with the TV chef who eagerly took part in a

Yorkshire Curd Tart masterclass in Botham’s bakehouse.

With its sweet pastry base and a carefully balanced, deep-filled centre of curd, currants, sugar and spices, a Botham’s Yorkshire Curd Tart is not only famous in the town but it is also recognised nationwide.

Jonathan Botham said: “We heard that Phil had tried using cottage cheese in his version of a Yorkshire curd tart so we were keen to show him the traditional Yorkshire way.

"We had a great day working together in-line with social distancing protocol.

"Phil was surprised at the texture of a Botham’s Curd Tart and how much firmer they were when compared to his cottage cheese version.

"He seemed to really enjoy the finished article, putting away a good portion with a pot of tea in our Tearoom.

“It was fascinating talking to Phil about his career; we had both had the experience of running out of funds when travelling in our youth, to the point of thinking 'well at least I’ll get fed on

the plane home!'

"A love of food and cooking makes a great reason for travel, learning how food is prepared in its original setting is key – it has certainly influenced me as a baker.
