Suzie Bushby and her daughter Dani competed against the Bay House in Scarborough and the Oakleigh Guest House, Blackpool, in a socially-distanced edition of the contest to find the best value B&B for the week.

"It feels like a long time ago but with the devastation to hospitality caused by the pandemic we really haven’t been trading for very long at all but it feels like a lot has happened," said Suzie.

"All we have ever wanted to do was save the building, enhance the lives of people in the area, create jobs and be true to ourselves in the process."

The Farrier opened two years ago and the restaurant quickly won a reputation for great food and service.

"If this win has helped our village and surrounding area in any way then that makes us happy," said Suzie..

"We are also happy that we are now great friends with every one of the other contest who appeared in the competition. They are all amazing people and would also have been worthy winners.

"We hope we have helped in some small way to put Cayton in the map!"

The mum and daughter were presented with a plaque and were able to toast the win with champagne.
