DJ Greg James let slip the news while appearing on The One Show last night, when he revealed that filming of the four-day event would take place at several iconic venues in the UK.

He told show hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas that he would be at Whitby Abbey - "a really cool venue" with "really amazing artists" who will be doing brand new performances on iPlayer, BBC Sounds and on the radio on bank holiday weekend (May 28-31).

"It's great for live music, we're slowly but surely coming out of hibernation and we don't want to overwhelm ourselves with a massive festival," he said.

"We can't do that obviously so we will encourage people to be in their gardens or hanging out with their mates in the park with the radio on."

Other names Mr James mentioned who will be taking part in the Big Weekend are Celeste and rock duo Royal Blood - and dropped a hint there were two huge names yet to be revealed.

The event rocked up in Stewart Park, Middlesbrough, almost two years ago.
