Whitby RNLI celebrates two more pass outs for crew members

Whitby RNLI is celebrating two more pass outs for crew members.

Jonathan Haynes and David Hilson had their training put to the test recently with their navigation assessments.

The day consists of a theory paper and practical, scenario-based assessments at sea.

Whitby RNLI Coxswain Richard Dowson said: “I’d like to say a massive congratulations to both Dr David Hilson and Jonny Haynes.

"They have both carried out months of behind the scenes training alongside their normal crew training to become two new qualified navigators of the Whitby lifeboat.

"The navigator is a key role onboard making sure the lifeboat is safely navigated and plotting search areas when called to search for a casualty.

“Well done from all the crew.”
