Plan your Tour journey for Bridlington

South Marine Drive will be closed all day on 1 May between Trafalgar Crescent and Pembroke Terrace, from 6am to 6pm. Visitors are strongly advised to come into town using the regular Park and Ride service.

The 1,000 space Park and Ride car park is at South Cliff car park, located at YO15 3QN, and is clearly signposted from both the north and south of Bridlington. It costs £3.50 for all day parking for all vehicles, for up to seven persons.

Buses and a land train will transport people from the Park and Ride car park into Bridlington, starting from 9am, and are free for people buying a Park and Ride ticket.

Buses will leave the Park & Ride site at 0900, 0930, 1000 and then every 15 minutes until 1800.

Buses will leave Bridlington at 0915, 0945, 1015 and then every 15 minutes until 1815.

The Park and Ride buses will be re-routed for that day only, dropping passengers off at the coach park on Hilderthorpe Road.

The land train will drop passengers off at the Spa Bridlington. The second land train will run as normal on North Promenade, between the town centre and Sewerby Hall and Gardens.

Parking will be suspended on South Marine Drive and North Marine Drive from the evening before the road closure. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses except during the passage of the race.

The event will have a ceremonial start at 11.50 am on South Marine Drive outside The Spa Bridlington. Riders will have a 5km neutralised section through the town before the official race start at Sewerby at 12 noon. It is also scheduled to pass through Bempton at around 12.11pm, en route to Scarborough.

Ceremonial start of the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire : 11.50 am

As the race progresses, there will be rolling road closures along the route up to 30 minutes before the riders are due along. Most road closures are scheduled to last around 15 minutes after the riders have passed. These closures will be managed by the police.

The council is reminding residents and visitors that specific parking restrictions will be in place in some areas – people are asked to look out for them as signs will be in place to give plenty of notice before the day of the race.

The council also anticipates that many spectators will arrive by bike, meaning that there will be many more cyclists on the roads in the area on both days of the race, so motorists are asked to take extra care.

Residents in the affected areas will be receiving details in the post in the coming days and event notices are due to be on display at the same time.
