Plans for town cinema continue to reel on . . .

Your banner headline in the Scarborough Evening News dated January 1, 2008, along with New Year's good wishes to your readership, was: '˜Cinema in town wins backing'.

The article tells us that plans were revealed in July 2007 for a town centre cinema just two weeks after Benchmark announced plans for a multi-screen on the site of Atlantis in North Bay. It doesn’t take long to do the maths and calculate that this farce has already taken more than the length of two world wars and is now into its second decade.

Now, once again, it is delayed for a further two years. What a surprise!

If anyone out there is holding their breath, don’t.
