A cordon has been put in place by North Yorkshire Police on Somerset Terrace, Vernon Road and the surrounding area including the roundabout located next to the Palm Court Hotel.

Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly before 11am.

In a statement, North Yorkshire Police said: "We’re currently dealing with an incident at the Brunswick Centre in Scarborough.

"Two people are on the roof and cordons are in place.

"Please avoid the area until further notice whilst emergency services respond."
