Police release dramatic North Yorkshire crash photos alongside drink drive warning as pubs reopen
These dramatic photos of a crash in North Yorkshire have been released by police urging people not to drink and drive.
As pubs, restaurants and bars across Scarborough and the rest of the country welcome customers back inside today, North Yorkshire Police is warning it will be breath testing motorists.
Since beer gardens reopened last month, they say the force has already made over 70 drink drive arrests.
After this crash last night, on the A162 near Burton Salmon in Selby, a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
If you are planning to go on a night out, police advise you to get a taxi home, make use of public transport and stick to soft drinks if you do have to drive.
“Since beer gardens have reopened, we’ve been running a campaign urging people to ‘Be a hero, stay at zero’, " said a spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police.
“If you do choose to have a drink, think about how you’ll get home. You might just save yours or someone else’s life.”
To report concerns about drink or drug driving, call North Yorkshire Police on 101 or call 999 if it is in progress. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
