The Fisherman’s Wife in Khyber Pass will create a “dog-friendly” outside seating area for people to have takeaways from the restaurant.

Last year, the restaurant was named as one of the 10 finalists for the 2020 National Fish & Chip Awards.

The planning application for a change of use for the land submitted to Scarborough Council stated: “The proposal is for an external seating and takeaway area to an existing fish and chip restaurant to provide much-needed expansion and dog-friendly facilities.

“The site is to be accessed via a new opening in the stone boundary wall.”

A takeaway service hatch will also be created for people using the area to place their orders.

Scarborough Council planning officers have now given the plans the green light after the scheme was modified to address concerns from Whitby Town Council and the council’s own engineers.
