Building a Better Borough: Scarborough Council announces events for public to get involved
Three events are to be held across the borough to encourage residents to engage with the council's 'Building a Better Borough' scheme.
Scarborough Council will be hosting the events as part of the consultation over its plans to improve services in Scarborough, Whitby and Filey.
These will be held on Monday February 17, from 2pm to 4pm at Filey Evron Centre, on Tuesday February 18, from 2pm to 4pm at The Street in Scarborough and on Wednesday February 19, from 2pm to 4pm at the Coliseum Centre in Whitby.
The focus group style events will give people the opportunity to have open conversations about how Building a Better Borough can be achieved and let the council know about the
things that matter the most to them.
The feedback received will be added to the results of the current ‘Your Borough, Your Say’ survey to help identify key priorities for the borough.
Ten places are available at each of the events on a first come, first served basis. To secure a place, people should email [email protected] or call 01723 383562.
The council’s communities’ team is also arranging similar conversation events with established community groups throughout the borough. Plans to host roadshow style events in some of the borough’s high footfall locations are also being explored.
Cllr Steve Siddons, Leader of Scarborough Borough Council said: “People like to give feedback in different ways so we’re hosting these open conversations for those that prefer to meet face to face and share their ideas in a small informal setting.
"The events are an important part of the Building a Better Borough consultation and are a good way of getting into the heart of our communities to ensure as many people as possible can have their say in what they think our borough should look like in the future and how we can all work together to develop and achieve that vision.”
The ‘Your Borough, Your Say’ survey is available to complete until March 15 and can be accessed online HERE.
Paper copies of the survey are available to pick up from Scarborough's Town Hall, Falsgrave Community Resource Centre, The Street, Scarborough Library, Filey Town Council, Filey Evron Centre, Filey Library, Whitby Library, Whitby Town Council, Pannett Park and Whitby Tourist Information Centre.
