Final completion of Scarborough Athletic pitch expected 'well ahead of new season'
Council bosses have given a positive update on the progress of works to repair Scarborough Athletic Football Club’s pitch.
Repairs at Scarborough Sports Village, home to Scarborough Athletic FC and Scarborough Ladies FC, are progressing well, councillors have been told.

A survey last year identified “serious structural issues” at the council-owned Scarborough Sports Village, including a defective drainage system installed when the facility was first built.
The council has committed to ensuring the repairs are completed in time for competitive matches to resume in August.
Cllr Simon Myers, the executive member for arts, culture, and housing, told a full meeting of North Yorkshire Council that works to repair the pitch were progressing well.
He added that the initial works were almost complete and the final stage was expected to be completed “well ahead” of the start of the football season.
Speaking at the meeting on Wednesday, May 20, he said: “Works are progressing well at the Scarborough Sports Village, with the initial phase of works to the pitch almost complete and the final stage of work, to resurface the pitch, expected to commence in May.
“Final completion is expected well ahead of the start of the new football season.”
Earlier this year, the council approved a £150,000 loan to help secure the club’s future amid the ongoing pitch problems.
The club, which has been playing its home fixtures at Bridlington Town’s stadium, requested financial support while it fixed the foundations and drainage system issues at Scarborough Sports Village.
